Competition for the Design of a Monument to Yuri Khatuevich Temirkanov: Applications Now Open
The Polylog Foundation for the Development of Interethnic Relations, together with the Russian Academy of Arts, are announcing a competition for the best design for a monument to Yuri Khatuevich Temirkanov, a legendary conductor whose work has become an important part of Russian and international musical culture. The monument is planned for installation in Moscow.
Competition Concept Participants are tasked with creating an artistic project that adequately reflects the scale of Yuri Khatuevich's personality and contribution to art. The future monument should be more than just a sculpture, but an expressive image conveying the power of his talent and the significance of his legacy. Yuri Khatuevich Temirkanov is a People's Artist of the USSR, a full Cavalier of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland," a laureate of state prizes, and a conductor whose name is firmly associated with the highest achievements of classical music.
Who can participate Citizens of the Russian Federation are invited to participate—both individual authors and creative teams. Teams must include professional artists, sculptors, architects, and designers. To participate, you must agree to the competition terms and conditions and register.
What awaits the winners? The authors of the best projects will receive cash prizes. The amount and payment procedure are specified in the competition regulations. The regulations and technical specifications can be viewed and downloaded here.
The competition period is from July 28 to October 25, 2026. Applications and competition projects must be submitted electronically until October 1, 2026, at konkurs2026@rah.ru. The jury will meet and announce the competition results from October 20 to 25, 2026.
